About Laura

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience in individual, family and group therapy. I have a BS in Therapeutic Recreation and a Master of Arts in Education. My background includes experience in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. I am an experienced speaker, writer, group facilitator and teacher, with a private practice in Rowlett, Texas. I am the author of Christian Insight for Life…For Every DayHow You Think Determines the Course of Your Lifeand The Heart Handbook-Getting Back to the Basics of Love, each of which can be found on Amazon.com and other online booksellers.

In my practice, I work with adults, adolescents and children, families and groups dealing with common life issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, emerging from abuse, self-image and self-esteem, grief and loss, relationships and marriage, stress, and general life transitions.

Additionally, I facilitate training seminars for churches and businesses in areas of team dynamics, crisis intervention, grief counseling, and conflict resolution. My clients have included companies such as Raytheon, L3 Communications, and Ally Financial.

I am a Christian counselor, and as such I combine traditional therapeutic methods and techniques with Scripture-centered analysis, discussion and exercises. I believe that the Word of God is instructive in all areas of life and essential to achieving sustainable personal change and growth.

I have a straightforward approach to therapy, directly engaging each area of concern, and applying Biblical truth, which recognizes that no one is beyond the reach of wellness through God’s love, which is promised to all of us. Despite the pain of disadvantaged circumstances, past trauma or just the challenges of daily life, it is possible for each of us to walk in overcoming faith and experience the victorious life that God prepared for us long ago.

In addition to my counseling practice, I am a co-founder, with my husband, Rod, of Christian Insight for Life, a non-profit teaching and discipleship ministry. CIFL is dedicated to reaching both Christians and non-Christians across the globe with a message of hope and a mandate for a bold, active faith walked out in daily life. Through multiple platforms, including books and publications, social media, and speaking engagements, conferences, seminars and retreats, CIFL provides resources and support for equipping new and mature Christians with a practical and sustaining faith required for confidently engaging and influencing contemporary culture.

I am also privileged to serve on the panel of licensed counselors for New Life Ministries (newlife.com), a counseling and discipleship ministry founded by Steve Arterburn over 34 years ago, where I also serve as a co-facilitator for the New Life Ministries’ Restore and Intimacy in Marriage workshops.
